I wasn't expecting much from this movie. Especially since it came from a movie (Pitch Black) that I would almost give a 0/10. And well I wasn't too surprised when it gave me almost nothing. But I have to say it was 10 times better than Pitch Black.

The story goes it's like 5 or 6 years after Pitch Black and Riddick has been running from bounty hunters and he spent a great deal of it on a planet that is covered in snow all year round. He meets up with these bounty hunters who tell him that they heard about it from a guy who happens to be one of Riddicks friends. The Holy Man from the first movie. So Riddick steals the bounty hunters ship and flys it to the Holy Man's Planet. There he meets up with all these people who say he's the only hope the universe has to stop these evil Goth like people called Necromongers. He also finds out that Jack the boy who turned out to be a female (in Pitch Black) that worshipped Riddick went off looking for him and ended up getting caught and thrown in a jail on a planet called the crematorium. Riddick refuses to help but only until the Necromongers attack the planet he is on and he realizes he has to do something.

The main bad guys in this movie were nothing more than violent goths, they acted like the stereotypical goth and wore all black, that just made me laugh. They also wore black eye liner and eye shadow. They reminded me of people I knew in highschool. I found the part of Riddick hard to believe he is suppose to be this evil guy but he never acts evil at all, not even in pitch black did he act even remotely evil. He just acts like a cocky outlaw who is more good than bad. All through out the movie he says these gay one liners that you'd think the person who wrote the part was trying to make all these catch phrases. They just ended up being really stupid and laughable.

The plot could have used some help, if you haven't seen Pitch Black alot of it won't make any sense at all. I went with my sister and there were alot of parts she just kept saying "what" at and she couldn't follow it. Which is kinda stupid since very few people actually saw Pitch Black since it totally bombed at the box office back in 2000 when it came out. The story alone was confusing with out the constant references to the first movie. Alot of it didn't add up and some of it just didn't make any sense what so ever. There were also parts in the movie they made so long that it just seemed to drag on. It just seemed like they were trying to take up time to make the movie longer than it should have been. The movie was just under 2 hours but they could have made it perfectly well in an hour and 40 minutes. At least 10 minutes of it could have been cut out totally, and it wouldn't have affected anything.

It was at the very least enjoyable and watchable unlike Pitch Black which is barley watchable.

6.1/10
